During the visit, my son’s smocked john johns caught the attention of local women. They were fascinated. This led to an impromptu decision to take the garment apart to see if we could recreate it. Within a week, over 50 women from the village came to our hut, eager to learn the art of smocking and fine needlework. Back home, I couldn’t stop thinking about those women and the challenges they faced daily. I knew I needed to help. My mother and I committed to their empowerment by providing scholarships for fine needlework training. What began with just 50 women grew into a program of over 500 skilled artisans over the next decade. These incredible women not only gained the ability to financially support their families but also developed the skills to help other women in their community achieve the same independence. The success of Remember Nguyen has had a tremendous impact on the village economy, allowing us to fund vital community projects. From donating stained glass windows to the local church to installing outdoor play equipment for village children, we’ve seen firsthand the power of empowerment and giving back. Now, through our sister companies, Baby Sen and Phoenix N Ren, we have an ambitious dream—to build the village's first playground and daycare center.
